During WWII on September 17th 1944, the Allied forces started Operation Market Garden. It was one the largest parachute assaults in history as the airborne troops alone numbered between 35,000-40,000.
They were dropped over the Netherlands in an effort to capture and hold nine bridges that would provide the Allies with a direct invasion route into northern Germany with the hope of ending the war by Christmas. Although the Allied forces failed in their main objective and the war would last another year, they did succeed in capturing a number of Dutch cities and towns. The battle lasted from September 17th-25th 1944.
As this is one of the most important parts of recent Dutch history and WWII history, we want to take a moment to remember and celebrate the Allied soldiers who fought and lost their lives here 82 years ago. Together with the brave men and women of the Dutch resistance, they've fought against fascism and we believe this to be one of the most important and noble endeavours one can undertake.
Since we are a just a humble heavy music festival, there isn't much else we can do except engage in remembrance and offer a discount in honour of one of the reasons we are free to organise a this festival in the first place. That's why, from today until September 25th, you can use code MARKETGARDEN to receive an 82% discount on tickets to Triple Threat Metal Fest 2027.
